In an increasingly divided political world it is vital that our cities stimulate chance encounters between people of opposite political views. But in order to design for such democratic situations we need new techniques for mapping the political diversity of urban spaces.
Interactive Datascape
This project combines TANTLabs computational anthropology with GEHLs analogue methods to chart public life in public spaces. The result of computational methods is an interactive datascape showing granular patterns in people’s engagement with politics and urban events on social media.
Qualitative stories
Guided by patterns in the map we have used GEHLs expertise in urban analysis to make qualitative characteristics of the build environment in selected areas. The result is two stories about Nørrebro and Amager.
